Now, the Internet has become an open source of information that offers manifold avenues for searching information. So any private citizen or any organization can avail of the criminal records online whatever they want, usually within two to ten business days.

The Washington State Patrol is responsible for maintaining the statewide central repository for Washington State criminal records. This means that the criminal history record information (CHRI) or the Washington State criminal records only contain reports accompanied by fingerprint cards. If there are no fingerprint reports available, the records will not be included in the database.

The Massachusetts State Government has a central repository of Massachusetts criminal records. The name of the database is the Criminal Offender Record Information or CORI. This database is used to provide Massachusetts criminal records to Board-certified, non-criminal justice agencies such as schools, day care centers, home health aides, youth athletic coaches, and municipal government agencies. The unit processes an average of 100,000 Massachusetts criminal records requests per month, excluding law enforcement agency requests.
